Mike Great use of blogs by your class. I hope they're enjoying it. I guess it is part of the assessment? Might be nice to see some discussion/comments among them if that's expected. Alison
this is a huge eye-opener as to where the web is going ... will TV and Radio programmes be shared and posted via the Web or attached to related content as a whole package with Documents, Photos, Podcasts, Interactive Maps....?
A clever little piece, but... What has THIS got to do with broadcasting? Almost nothing in my opinion - that is if the THIS (of the header question) is refering to it's content or message. On the other hand if the THIS refers to the format or packaging of the item (it's type) then it draws heavily on traditions of broadcast media. Basically it is a mini documentary in a fixed structure that skillfuly uses text as narration. It makes some good points but some are far from convincing. While grooving along with the hypnotic music we are being told who is going to organise this avalanche of data. Who is? we are? Yeah right ... maybe if we feel like it we might try and organise one or two of our own pages. Witness the difficulty of just keeping a few university pages up to date.
How many people have you heard saying "I saw a great bit of hypertext the other day"? How many go around bursting with news of an interactive title? Almost no one (except perhaps in the gaming world). If enthused by any media they will in most cases be refering to a well produced piece of writing, a film, video or music clip (traditional media forms).
Long live the high production values (that we should be aiming for) of traditional film broadcast media: good research, expert opinion, high standards of production craft, creative use of visuals, sound and good storytelling.

Is that enough to start a debate?
I rest my case
